Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council

Literature based activity in Neath Port Talbot is supported by Neath Port Talbot libraries and Arts Development.

Neath Port Talbot libraries have an active author events programme and have hosted a variety of authors visits from Catrin Collier, Phil Rickman, Jasper Fforde, Martin Bell, Carole Matthews to name just a few. These events provide people with the opportunity to meet their favourite authors and to learn about the careers and lives of these very special guests.

Neath Port Talbot libraries also have an extremely active schools project programme and have piloted teacher training events in partnership with Literature Wales as well as independently. Schools have enjoyed a variety of author visits including workshops with Luke Wright, Thomas Docherty, Phil Carradice, Mike Church, Michael Harvey, Phil Bowen and many more.

For further information about the range of services available please contact Paul Doyle: p.a.doyle@neath-porttalbot.gov.uk.

Neath Port Talbot Arts Development believe that the arts are for everyone, and can be life changing and life affirming. People are the centre of their projects and they aim to develop the skills and talents of the local community.

Neath Port Talbot Council’s Arts Development team successfully secured a European Social Fund grant through the Arts Council of Wales, as part of the Reaching the Heights Icon Project, a film multi-media arts project.

Community Development and Projects have actively supported the project and have engaged 30+ young people across Neath Port Talbot. Workshops have taken place in Sandfields, Taibach and Bryn Community Centres, where the young people attend youth clubs. The project worked in partnership with Literature Wales to provide Circus Poetry sessions and Arriva trains poetry experiences..
